Since March 2010, The Nurtury has proudly offered exceptional childcare and Early Childhood Education in Christchurch.
With a combined over 50 years' experience since the 1980s in childcare and Early Childhood Education, the owner and management staff of The Nurtury have set up and run several Early Childhood Education centres and Kindergartens in Christchurch and throughout Asia, including Singapore and Indonesia. Their global and varied experiences in different settings, as well as the curriculum and programme, are reflected in the vibrant, inclusive and multi-cultural experience for the children and families at The Nurtury.
Recognising New Zealand's bi-culturalism, we embrace the Maori culture and weave this special part of our heritage into the children's learning.
Our belief in the learning and development opportunities the natural world can offer to the young child is echoed in our vast and natural outdoor space. Set in a farm-like environment, our back-to-basics programme - a focus on sustainability -encourages and involves the children in caring for the animals on our grounds. This includes feeding the animals and collecting eggs from our chicken coop daily. We have our own vegetable garden on-site that the children tend by planting, nurturing and harvesting fresh vegetables. The produce regularly goes into the children's meals at the centre, with the added goodness of fresh fruit on our menu each day.
The Nurtury’s inspirational environment has been carefully crafted to meet the needs of growing children, and to inspire and promote their physical, mental and emotional development.
